Fort Myers
is the county seat of Lee County. It's
nickname is the "City of Palms" and it
is home to the winter residence of
Thomas Edison and Henry Ford.
The city
is growing at a fast pace. The area
called Fort Myers includes a much
greater area than the official city
limits encompass.
According
to the Lee County Economic Development
Office, almost 10 million people
(three-quarters of Florida's population)
reside within a 150-mile radius of Fort
Myers. This is expected to increase to
more than 13 million by 2010.as
well as major names.
